Our host has been having numerous server issues today, running the full gamut of hardware and software. I didn't break anything, really. Hopefully things will be back to normal soon.

Amoeba

Our new bug and issue tracking system, Amoeba is online now. I can finally get on with Muties again (I'll be implementing skills as has been discussed previously).

It's always possible that there will be bugs (ha) in the bug-tracking system. If they're so bad you can't actually post a bug about it, feel free to post it in here.

I'll be doing a blog post soon about Amoeba: the concept behind it and some technical info for those of you that are interested in such things.

Kicking a Monk while he's down...

I just found out today that the free service (Assembla) I've been using for source code control and bugs/ticket tracking is changing, and forcing me to either pay a monthly fee or make everything (including all the code) public. For me, neither is an acceptable option. Assembla certainly has the right to make money for their service, but I'd rather set up something myself than pay for it.

What this means for you guys is that the bug reporting system will probably be broken until I can get a working computer again and set something up on my own server. I won't be able to change the "Report Bug" button in the game until then either, so that's just going to be broken for a bit. Please post bugs in the forums if the normal button doesn't work, and I'll let everyone know when we have a new system set up.

Kerblooie!

My computer died a horrible, fiery death. I suspect the processor, but it may be the motherboard. On the positive side, this gives me a good opportunity to upgrade some core components that were getting a bit dated. On the bad side, I'll have to completely reinstall everything and hope the hard crash didn't trash what I was working on at the time (implementing skills and powerups into Muties).

The replacement parts are on order. With the holidays, etc., it may be a few days before I can get back to work on things here. But now you won't have to panic at my mysterious silence.

Forum Permissions Issue Fixed

The new MFoN 2.0 forum didn't have permissions for the Beta Tester group to view the forums, but "Guests" did. It never occurred to me that it might get confused. Beta Testers now have explicit access to that forum and should now be able to see the posts. Sorry about that!

Hey there, you've probably noticed the design change. It's more structural than design, actually. Forums are at forums.atomicmonks.com, and the game will be moved to muties.atomicmonks.com, and we may have a wiki.atomicmonks.com, etc.

I'm still tweaking a few things, but you might run across a problem or two for a little bit.

Note:
For best results, you'll need to log out, then ideally delete your Atomic Monks cookies, then log back in.

Monster Avatars!

I saw a nifty little code thing, and couldn't resist.

Everybody now has an avatar. If you already specified/uploaded one, you still have that one. If you have specified you don't want to see avatars, you still won't. Otherwise you'll get a randomly generated avatar based on your user name. Anybody that's interested in making new graphics for the monsters can holler at me.
