Topic: 2.0 getting started

Ok, I hate to ask but I am stuck. I started out in Casa Vista, which I assume is where everyone starts. I did Andy's quest, I started a quest about giant rats and a quest about a drinking guard. I have not finished either and it looks like I may need to leave to town to complete one or both of these. I assume I leave town by going out the front gate and walking to the green areas south East and West of the main gates, when I walk to those, I can't enter those green areas.
I spent all my turns yesterday picking herbs just to do something. I don't think I can sell them to anyone. I tried wandering around to get enough rat fights to level but that is taking a very long time so I assume I am totally on the wrong path. Can someone give me a tip?

Re: 2.0 getting started

No, you don't need to leave town for either of those.

You can sell the herbs at any shop, just drag them from your inventory to the store's inventory.

You might also try looking at the tutorial I just put up. From the game, click on the Help button, then click on the Tutorial link.

Re: 2.0 getting started

Brother Erryn,

I read the tutorial, it covered several technical questions. I appreciate it.
I'm still struggling a bit but I'm working on it. Hopefully I'll catch you in game to ask some questions.
One thing that could be added to the tutorial stuff is any chat commands, I was able to infer that /who tells me who is in the room. I see you do italicized text and took a shot that this was /me. Is there anything also that we should be aware of?

Hello youngling! I'll mail you some quest help. I'm very unorthodox like that. Haha.

Re: 2.0 getting started

The primary chat commands are:

/me or /emote : does what you already discovered
/who : displays who's on the same map as you
/where <name> : displays the current location of a player or NPC
/cls : clears your chat window
/msg <name> text : sends a private message to the player, on any map. If <name> has a space, it must be surrounded with quotes.
/r text : replies to the last private message with another private message

Re: 2.0 getting started

No problem. You can also ask for help with quests in this forum, just remember to use the spoiler tags where appropriate.

it might be nice to put these in help or the tutorial.

Re: 2.0 getting started

I thought about it, but I'm trying to limit the Tutorial to pretty basic stuff that everybody really needs to know to play the game.

The wiki would be a good place, at least...and I'll ponder the tutorial. Maybe just the Help book, and not the tutorial?

Heck, I didn't know those last three commands!

I'm guessing that you'll need to type in the character name, rather than the owner of the character, to find out where they are.  I've got two characters:  Todd Lope and sambrookjm.  I assume that typing:

/where sambrookjm

would tell you where that character is, instead of where all of my guys were?

I think I've experienced this deja vu before...

Re: 2.0 getting started

/r sounds good, it's a basic function that alot of games tend to ignore, well done smile

Re: 2.0 getting started

Good thing I was able to visit this thread first (before trying out some stupid chat commands and waste time). I didn't know chat commands are that easy! This is really an interesting feature to watch out for!
