I think this one will almost be NEEDED for those damn deer! I spent at least 60 moves trying to kill one, and when I finally did... No pelt! Those bishtards.
I used the sling (bigger effective range), and stood where I could hit the spots where I saw them spawn mostly.

Yeah...I tried the suggestions Brother Erryn gave me.
Spoiler:
Try moving towards the deer and trapping them, rather than shooting right away. Once you get next to them, they do start to attack rather than flee. This slingshot will do more damage because of the missile attack (5), but if you're next to one of them, they're in melee range anyway.
Supposedly, there are good spots to camp out to catch the deer...I'm not convinced of that one yet.
They improved things very slightly, but not very much. My score after spending all of today and part of yesterday on the

The biggest problem I've been having is that deer my character can't even see because they're behind four lines of trees on the other side of the map trigger a combat. They flee, and it costs me an action. If they were close enough for the character to see and then successfully fled, I'd have no problem with that being an action. When they're 25+ squares away and trigger a combat when my character can't even see them...
There's going to be a LOT of swearing in this quest...
So all those tips, I pretty much already figured out myself. The only problem I have with trapping them is that it usually will take 4 moves to get to a close 1, 8-10 for the fairly close spawn, and like you said, 25+ for the annoying f*kers.

Yes, I must admit, it is very realistic, I just better get something good out of it ![]()
EDIT: Wooo Hooooooo, my 2nd deer skin... only taken me 98 moves so far too... 22 left, can I get another one? Taking all bets. I also offer video poker!
EDIT: OMFG! Boy, am I lucky, 98 moves to get 2, yet only 2 more moves spent and I get my third!!
