Topic: [DONE][UNKNOWN] Combat Upgrade

Close combat, at the moment, is essentaily running into the foe with a big stick/spiky big stick/knifey thing. I'm not sure if this would be possible, but maybe there could be 3 attack options -

STRONG ATTACK: Higher attack roll, lower defence roll.
ATTACK: No change.
DEFEND: Lower attack roll, higher defence roll.

This would increase "strategy" used in a battle. For example, high agility players could use strong attacks as they have high defense, and so on and so forth.

Re: [DONE][UNKNOWN] Combat Upgrade

Generally speaking, you'd expect high agility players to stick to ranged attacks for the most part. That said, what you're describe sounds like stances, which would be an interesting idea:

* Aggressive Stance: +25% attack, -25% defense
* Defensive Stance: +25% defense, -25% attack
* Normal: (no change)
* Careful Aim: 10% chance for double ranged attack, 10% chance for any attack to miss completely
* etc.

Re: [DONE][UNKNOWN] Combat Upgrade

Also, aggressive stance could cause you to enter into fights more often?
Or, the other thing could be a 'wait for a fight' button? Just because my left and right keyboard butttons are wearing rather thin.

Re: [DONE][UNKNOWN] Combat Upgrade

What if the search greatly increased the odds of a combat encounter (assuming one was available). Would that work?

I think there should be two buttons for this, since sometimes characters really need a breather:

Search - Rest.  For when you need to regain your hit points.  There's still a chance of an encounter, but if not, you'll get hit points back.
Search - Hunt.  For when you want an encounter.  Chances are greatly increased tht you'll run into a bad guy.  The drawback is that if you don't get into a fight, you won't get any HP back.

Re: [DONE][UNKNOWN] Combat Upgrade

Would hunting expend an action on its own?

If possible, how about this:

If you don't get into a combat, hunting should take an action because you ran around looking for a fight.
If you did get into a combat, you should lose the action you would normally lose for the combat, but not an extra for hunting.

Either way, it will cost one action to hunt.  It just won't take an extra action if you get into a combat.

It's early yet...so let me know if this is confusing or not.

It's working quite well.  I think it will really cut down on the amount of bandwidth you use when people are looking for fights...as well as the amount of time it takes to use up the actions as well.

Re: [DONE][UNKNOWN] Combat Upgrade

Will be interesting to see how this works once it enters the game... should make playing just that little bit easier.
