Topic: [Change/Effect] Radiation Poisoning

Radiation poisoning turns increases even while in battle. Although this is realistic, I also think it's a little unfair as you have to move around while in battle.

I think that you should either set it so you can't gain radiation poisoning while in battle, or set a cap for max. turns of radiation poisoning (10?). In addition to this, if you make it that you can't gain more while in battle, it also needs a cap (20?).


Any thoughts?

Ahh crap, I just realised that you don't loose radiation poisoning when you loose a battle. Perhaps this could be modified?

Also, is it supposed to disallow fleeing from the battle there? When I try to flee, no info comes up in the chat, it just goes onto the next round and the monsters move closer. Is this normal? Could we get a "You can not flee from this battle" info so we know what's going on, and maybe just stop us from doing it (Like if you try to 'hunt' while in battle)?

Oooooo...I hadn't thought of it doing that during combat. I will change that tonight. It should only get you during normal movement, not during combat movement.

Like all buffs/effects, you lose one "point" of it every time you spend an action.

Yes, some fights don't allow you to flee. I will change the combat code to display that message, it will be uploaded with the other combat changes (hopefully this weekend).

I'm also going to hide the hunt button during combat.

Well, after all those realisations/fixes, I'm glad I went and got myself 35 radiation poisoning in the name of testing smile

What about a max. radiation cap? and loosing some debuff points when you die(half, all, 10)? Too hard? Not needed? Thoughts?

No buff/effect has a cap right now, intentionally. Losing some b/e when you are returned to the monk is possible, but I'm not sure if it's needed. I'd like to hear what everyone else thinks about it.

I just think that loosing 35 actions to walk through 1 area seems silly. Especially if you die, because then you got nothing for those 35 actions that you have to use up searching or doing other mundane tasks (can't hunt because you have less than 1/2 your SMACK). Of course this would be effected by any items that you can wear that could negate/reduce such a debuff.

I don't see how you lose 35 actions to walk through an area. You can still talk to people, and fight at half your level. You'd have to pick easier fights for a while if you can't find a way to get rid of the poisoning. I think maybe what you need is that Rad-Away stuff, which I'll be able to put in after the upload.

The other option is to see Radiation Poisoning as a sign that maybe wandering there is a bad idea. smile

Oh, for sure I know that I'm not supposed to be there, I just wanted a comment on all my questions tongue

I think once I am able to take out those 3 mutants, I won't have any trouble at all with radiation. Let alone the fact that I'll have Rad-Away smile

Oh, and did you use that effect icon because it's only 2 colours and therefore pathetically tiny in terms of bytes?
