Topic: Stuff I've Done
Got some big pieces done tonight:
Shipping Container: I've got it working, you just have to complete the quest for it once Moore opens. It has twenty slots, each of which holds 10x the normal slot limit for the item (so yes, that's 1000 ammo or ten long leather jackets). The stuff you put in the container is always completely safe.
Thievery: Yes, you can steal from stores again! That is, one you finish the appropriate quest.
You get a "fence bag", a special inventory window. To steal an item, you drag it from the store into a fence bag slot. There's a panel under the slots where you can drop items to see your odds of stealing said item. The odds are based on mind, agility, and the selling price of the item. Whether successful or not, the chance of failure is also the chance that you get spotted and have a bounty put on your head. The bounty is the base price of the item, half that if your attempt failed. Your reputation with the faction of the store owner is decreased by the bounty placed, as well.
The Syndicate: I've finished the first Syndicate contact, who is also your first fence. To get rid of items in your fence bag, you have to talk to a fence, who will give you half the base value of the items. In story terms, you'll have to fence a certain amount before getting more advanced Syndicate missions.
Next, I'm doing:
Guards: There will actually be a few "ranges" of guards you deal with, depending on your bounty. At low bounties, you'll be offered the chance to surrender and serve your time and/or pay fines. As you get into higher bounties, you'll be more likely to be shot on sight (with your recovered body thrown in jail). Of course, attacking is always an option...for more bounty.
At higher bounties, you'll also be running into tougher guards or bounty hunters.
Railroad Quests: I've got two quests written around getting the steam engine running, but I still need to put them into the game. This leads to...
Someplace for the Railroad to Go: The area is probably going to be Tulsa, but that's a pretty major area, so it will probably take a bit of work before I can open that. So I might open Meers (a rugged mining area) first instead, and let you guys start mining for gold. ![]()
