Topic: buying goods

is there a way to buy more than one thing at a time, say for example arrows?
if i want thirty arrows do i have to drag them into my inventory one at a time, or am i missing something?

I am a Master of three martial arts including ninjitsu, which means I can wear the special boots to climb walls.

You can buy either 1 at a time of 100 at a time. Hold shift to buy as many will fit in the slot you've dragged them to.
For instance, hold shift and drag an arrow to and empty slot, you'll buy 100, hold shift and drag to a slot with 30 arrows in it and you'll buy 70.

there should really be a buy max added if you can't afford all 20/100 of something

Are you thinking that should be the default behavior? I mean, Shift+drop = fill slot or buy max, whichever is higher?

But then you can't buy less than that amount... or do you mean Shift+buy would buy 1 at a time? I'm kinda lost as to the idea being portrayed here...

I think he means Shift+drop = buy as many as possible for the target slot.

buying as many as you can would be nice, still i'd like to be able to buy in increments of ten.
say i had enough money to buy seventy, but i only wanted to buy fifty.

Isn't that already the case?

Increments of ten of 5 sounds like a good idea to me... Perhaps ctrl+click = 5, shift+click=full slot, click = 1

how about... shift+drop is made to work the same way splitting does...and you just select the amount...that'd make everyone happy and would be simple right...

It would mean coding another widget from Erryn's point of view though.... so I'm not sure how simple it would be...

The way Shift works is to pass along "all" with whatever action you're doing. That's actually used in more than just items. When you Shift+Click to shoot your target you're sending "all" with your attack (which will translate to burst fire for a weapon, for example).

I'll try to implement the first idea: max of what you can afford to put in that slot. Let's see how that works before we talk seriously about me adding new widgets to the interface.

that'd work, though I would like the ability to buy certain amounts I can't see it being neccessary...also...didn't know we could shoot bursts...cool.

Well, you can't do burst fire yet, at least until I script the M-16 to do it, but it's coming.
